Registration for youth sailing camp, adult sailing, and family sailing is now open.

The Vashon Park District's Bruce Haulman Junior Sailing Program participants meet at the Quartermaster Yacht Club (23428 Vashon Hwy. SW) on the first date of each respective camp class.  Each camp will be for four days.

Each four-day session costs $405. They start the week of Monday, July 8, and end on the week starting Monday, August 12. Beginner camp hours are 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Junior camp hours are 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Class size is limited to 24 students combined between beginner and junior classes. If your desired session is full, you will be placed on our waitlist.

Sail Boats: Sail boats are 14 -15 feet and all have one main and one jib sail. For safety, the program operates with three motorized chase boats.

CANCELLATIONS: If there is any reason you cannot attend this class, please contact us immediately so someone on the waiting list can take your place. Vashon Park District will refund registration fees if cancellation is at least 30 days before the start date.  A $29.00 administrative fee will be assessed for each refund. * Note:

On Thursdays the beginners will start at 10 a.m. and go to 4:00 p.m.
to sail to Dockton for lunch during our annual "Pirate Day."

Scholarships
Financial assistance  may be available (need based) - please call our office at (206) 463-9602 for details or complete the scholarship application form (see link on left of page) and return as directed.

Family and Adult 2 Day Sessions Available (Saturday & Sunday)

Registration for adult and family classes closes each Tuesday at noon (before that weekend's upcoming class) to ensure we have staff available. Call for availability Wednesday - Friday). 

1. Adult.  $405 Adult class size minimum is 3 enrollees. If class minimum is not met, the class may be canceled.
2. Family. $655 (maximum family of 4, children age 6 and older accompanied by an adult; 2 days, 6 hours per day; class dependent upon availability).

Following is a letter we recently received:

"My grandson had such a wonderful time at sailing camp last week.  I wanted to thank you for providing such a special, rewarding and educational experience. 

First of all, the location could not be lovelier.  Talk about memories being made!  He was greeted by super friendly camp directors and the class was a smallish size so there was no crazy-making (I taught school for 30 years!!). The fact that he was introduced to a whole new seaman vocabulary, learned to basically man a sailboat, share a boat with 2 other kids, watched for the boom, got to dress up as a pirate on the final day, and then sail to Dockton (had a real destination) for lunch, and play pirate games was beyond my expectations!! 

At pick-up, the kids were always happily directed in a group game of different sorts.  No one was running around unsupervised and they all had smiles on their faces.  The camp leaders were courteous, helpful, well-informed, and knew how to deal with 8-12-year-olds and also with parents/guardians dropping kids off.  They were very reassuring.  Thank you so much for providing the best camp experience my grandson has ever had.  We'll be back year after year!!"
